We ask what hotels cost. Every day. Same time.

Plenty of sites compare hotel prices right now. Almost nobody writes down what the same room cost yesterday, and the day before that. We do, and some of it surprised us.

How we ask. Same hotels, same check-in dates, same occupancy (2 adults, 1 night), same time of day. We record the nightly rate exactly as the API returns it — no conversion, no smoothing, no hand-editing. When a hotel returns nothing, we record that too: "no rooms" is information.

What we cannot say yet. 18 days is enough to compare a Tuesday against a Saturday. It is not enough to answer "how far ahead should I book" — that needs a date to be tracked from far out all the way to arrival. Ask us in a few months.

Currency. Figures below are ratios and counts wherever possible, so they hold in any currency. Where an absolute price is shown for Japan we use yen, because that is what the hotel charges. We only began recording US dollars on 2026-08-26, so cross-country price rankings are not published here yet.
